Romantic Getaways Around Wisconsin

February is the month of the heart, whether it is about our heart health to Valentine’s Day to romantic getaways. And what better way to share your heart with the one you love than going on a romantic getaway. Best of all, you can find your romantic getaway in Wisconsin.

Whether you are looking for a romantic vacation, a honeymoon or an anniversary trip, use this time to make memories. If you love the outdoors, Wisconsin offers all types of outdoor recreation for every season thanks to its many lakes, streams and rolling hills. You can do everything from biking, hiking, swimming and boating in the summer to skiing, snowmobiling and snowshoeing in the winter. There really are endless romantic possibilities for those of you who love the outdoors. How about a walk in the woods or on the frozen beach with your sweetheart?

Many smaller towns in Wisconsin offer great attractive B&Bs or cabin rentals. In a small town, you can explore the quaint little shops as well as enjoy a great home cooked meal at one of the local restaurants. Small towns can also offer quiet and seclusion for your romantic getaway.

One area of Wisconsin that is filled with charming small towns is Door County with its many waterfront villages that make excellent escapes. With all the natural beauty in the area, you may choose to try winter camping; or if you prefer a hotel, you may want to visit the Landmark Resort in Egg Harbor, which is in close proximity to all of Door County’s wintertime fun, such as ice fishing, cross country skiing, ice skating, sledding, etc.

The winter months are also a great time to visit some of our state’s world-class resorts. Many resorts and spas offer packages designed to entice visitors to try some of the pampering they offer. Perhaps you will enjoy a weekend of couples’ massages and other spa treatments or maybe you will never leave your room once you see the whirlpool, private deck and roaring fireplace. One great place to visit is Sundara Inn and Spa in Wisconsin Dells.

Perhaps you prefer the city or some of the finer things in life? If so, Wisconsin still has much to offer for those looking for romantic memories. Visit some of the many museums, theaters, art galleries and wineries the state has to offer.

For those of you who would like a change of pace, why not visit Madison? Because Madison is set in a progressive college town on a peninsula between two lakes, it has many unique things to enjoy. Madison, like Milwaukee, offers several museums for those who love history, enjoy learning and seeing parts of our past. It also offers a wide range of art and music, as well as a great nightlife. Many breweries and wine bars can be found along the streets that thrive on a living social culture. Also, be sure to explore some of the many famous and romantic restaurants. One of my favorites is Porta Bella located just off of State Street.

If you prefer staying close to home, don’t forget what Milwaukee and the surrounding area have to offer in the ways of romantic weekends or evenings. You will never be bored with all of the visual and performing arts in the area from the Milwaukee Art and Public Museums to the orchestra and ballet. And who can forget the food, music and culture our area has to offer? The Greater Milwaukee Area has everything needed to touch everybody’s heart and desire.

Finding romance in Wisconsin is truly up to you and your sweetheart to find and enjoy. It is up to your heart’s desire.
